Hazard Safety Training

Why Safety Matters

Federal OSHA standards require healthcare employers to provide hazard recognition and safety training, including training related to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous chemicals.

Biological Hazards

The OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard applies to occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials. Employers must provide training, exposure control measures, and offer Hepatitis B vaccination to covered employees.

Chemical Hazards

OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard requires employers to communicate chemical hazards through Safety Data Sheets (SDS), labels, and training

Physical and Environmental Hazards

Control measures for managing in-home physical and environmental hazards

Animal Safety

Pets are often present in the home and normally are never a threat. The following guidelines apply for in-home visits.

Workplace Violence and Personal Safety

OSHA defines workplace violence as threats, verbal abuse, intimidation, harassment, or physical assault occurring in the workplace. Healthcare workers are at increased risk especially when in the home.
