*What It Means When You Accept (and Return) A Patient*
This is a reminder to , all LifeCare Therapists that when you accept a patient from LifeCare, this means that *you are accepting the patient for their entire course of recommended therapy care*. It is a legal and ethical commitment to the patient and to LifeCare to provide the services which you are contracted to provide and that you agreed to when you requested/accepted the patient. Returning a patient impacts their continuity of service and creates a significant hardship for everyone. Here is an example. If you hire a contractor to pressure wash your house, you expect the contractor to complete the job, even if your house takes longer or is dirtier than the contractor might have anticipated when they accepted the job. It is the same principle here. Some patients might take a bit longer or need more “work”, but you still accepted the “job” that was given and you should not (without good cause) simply hand cases back to accept work that you might prefer. While we are all remote, we are still a team and need to be able to depend on one another.
If you do return a patient we will remind you of this commitment and this may affect your standing with Lifecare for future assignments and consideration during the off season.
Thank you
