We discuss in a patient channel sometimes doing Interim Reports, let's explain.
Medicare regulations and practice guidelines require a supervisory visit every 30 calendar days or after 8 "therapy only" visits, whichever comes first.
If there are extenuating circumstances where you as the supervising therapist are not able to go out we ask you to do an Interim Report- excusable reasons are out of the area for a reason, Covid, illness, or medical issues.
What do you do?
make an apt in EMR , arrive the apt, and complete the progress note State clearly why not in person- that you have spoken with the patient and assistant, do NOT bill units
Make an appointment with the patient asap in person as soon as you can
This interim Report will allow the PTA or OTA to see the patient and not stop their therapy due to your issue.
THIS IS ONLY USED IN EXTREME CASES- THANK YOU
