What Is An Out of Area Visit?
An out of area visit is a negotiated/higher rate when you accept a patient that is out of your normal treatment area. Under these circumstances, LifeCare provides a higher reimbursement rate to compensate you for the added time that you need to provide care to this patient. Out of area visits require pre-approval / pre-authorization and are agreed to on a case-by-case basis.
Scheduling & Getting Paid for Out of Area
LifeCare knows when a visit is out of area by the Visit Type on your schedule. Every visit type in the EMR has both the typical visit type (i.e., Standard Visit) or "Standard Visit - Out of Area". You must choose the correct visit type. If the visit type is "Standard Visit" you will receive your standard rate. If the visit type is "Out of Area" you will receive the higher rate.
