Therapist Competency
LifeCare is committed to delivering quality care services and to maintaining the requisite knowledge necessary to achieve that goal.

LifeCare of Florida is committed to providing the highest quality and level of rehabilitation services to our patients and the community that we serve. As part of that commitment, it is necessary to develop “standards” that articulate a measurable degree of required performance from the therapists who render care and to hold our therapists accountable to these standards for ongoing practice. By establishing these standards, LifeCare of Florida assumes that all therapists (including licensed therapist assistants) are:
Committed to delivering quality patient care services and to maintaining the requisite knowledge necessary to achieve this goal.
Bound by the code of ethics established by the profession as well as State Practice Acts;
Self-regulating and will continually assess his/her own knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet current standards of practice.
LifeCare of Florida supports the belief that life-long learning is necessary to maintain competence and currency in the professional field. Lifelong learning involves developing knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet current standards of practice. LifeCare of Florida will facilitate therapist competence through the following:
Orientation to policies and procedures;
Access to an online learning system for professional education/development;
Review of performance and documentation through UR/QA and individual meetings with therapists.
Annual update of personnel records
Documentation that supports competence (specialized certifications, etc) will be maintained in the personnel record.
Renewal of therapy licenses in Florida is contingent upon therapists meeting the continuing education requirements for license renewal. LifeCare will support continuing education needs by providing access to an online learning management system for CEU courses.
