Verification of Therapy Services
Verification of time with a patient is mandatory so that billing reflects actual time with a patient.

LifeCare uses HUCU, a HIPAA-compliant communication system that includes a “Check-In” and Check-Out” with a geolocator to verify the location and time spent with a patient for a therapy service. Each therapist, upon start of service, will “check in” through HUCU within the patient channel and check out at completion.
Services cannot be billed without an accurate match between the Treatment Verification Signature Log / HUCU and the time-in/time-out noted on the chart/schedule.
There are situations in which WiFi or internet connectivity is poor. In these cases, a printed Treatment Verification Signature may be used.
If someone other than the patient signs off on the note (such as a spouse or caregiver), have the individual sign with his/her OWN name and then document the relationship to the patient.
Patient signatures should never be imitated.
