Therapy Equipment and Supplies

LifeCare Therapy Services utilizes a “mobile clinic” model to provide care to those we serve. We are often asked about equipment and recommendations for supplies. While no specific equipment is required, it is recommended that therapists develop a portable “toolbox” to bring to the patient’s home. This “toolbox” allows therapists to grade/progress activities and typically results in higher patient satisfaction with the care provided. While each therapist’s toolbox is unique based on the clients they serve and their credentials/certifications, we are often asked for recommendations. The following are suggestions:

Theraband/Exercise Bands:  Amazon offers some of the best assortments and pricing. Our patients typically require the lowest to moderate resistance range. You can find the Theraband Brand and other brands, along with a variety of handles and attachment devices, to provide a full range of training for each muscle group.

Dumbbells/Cuff Weights: Here again, Amazon and Amazon Prime provide a wide variety of traditional cuff weights and newer soft-sided cuff weights. There is also a wide variety of soft and rubber-coated hand weights and small dumbbells.

TENS/Neuromuscular Electrical Stim:  You can find the Chattanooga Primera TENS/MNES at Amazon. This brand is widely used in therapeutic settings and construction; ease of use and reliability have been very good. Other reliable sources are: LGMEDSUPPLY.com and TENSUNITS.com.

Ultrasound:  Portable units that meet the minimum therapeutic output should be used.

 

Supplies/Disposables:  Ultrasound gel and/or lotion can be found for the best price and variety of quantities at Amazon. Brands include all clinic-grade products of: Spectra 360, Parker Aquasonic, and Polysonic. 

 

Balance Pads:  From 16.00 to 100.00 found on Amazon Prime. The most used brand in a clinical setting is the Airex

Restorator/Peddler:   Standard brand can be found at Amazon; search using the term “Peddler”.
