Missed Visit Guidelines

We understand that missed visits happen. Please keep the following guidelines in mind when managing missed visits:

1. Whenever possible, reschedule missed visits within the same week.

2. If a patient's Plan of Care (POC) is 2 visits per week, it is acceptable to complete 3 visits the following week to make up for a missed visit. It is always appropriate to increase visits within the POC to make up missed visits.

3. We must always complete the total number of visits outlined in the POC so that patients do not lose any authorized visits.

4. Supervisory visits do not count toward the POC visit frequency. For example, if a patient's POC is 2 visits per week and a supervisory visit occurs that week, you may still complete the scheduled 2 visits, resulting in 3 total visits for that week.

5. If you take vacation time, you may coordinate an increase in visits during the surrounding weeks to make up for any visits that were missed.
