Infection Control Guidelines for In-Clinic Care

For patients and visitors to the clinic, the following guidelines are to be followed:

Temperature/Systems Check:  Persons with symptoms or confirmed positive illness should never enter the building.  All patients should be screened prior to entry if obvious signs of illness are present.

Masks:  Therapists shall wear masks if there has been a known exposure to an infectious disease, even if the therapist is without symptoms. Patients should wear a mask if they have symptoms.

Hand Hygiene:  Hands are to be cleaned following hand hygiene protocol, including:

  • When arriving at or leaving the clinic

  • After using the restroom

  • After consuming food or drink

  • When visibly soiled

  • Before donning/doffing PPE

  • Between each patient

PPE:  To be worn per policy whenever there is anticipated contact with an infectious agent or bodily fluid.

Equipment:  All equipment used is to be cleaned and disinfected before/after each patient. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Treatment tables

• Exercise equipment

• Walkers/canes

• Parallel bars

• Oximeters and blood pressure cuff

Laundry:  Linens will be laundered daily and can only be used once per patient.

Please review protocols with our Safety Officer/OPT Administrator, Marika McFayden, for any questions.  Routine audits of hand hygiene and compliance with Infection Control Protocols will be done.
