Protect Your Self First
Tips to help keep you safe

LifeCare will never knowingly ask our therapists to place themselves in a situation where you might be at risk. In an emergency situation, you should also use your best judgment to protect yourself. Here are some tips to help you stay safe.
Confirm the location of your home care visit and ensure you have accurate directions to the home.
Have more than one person to call in case you need directions.
Know the location of your local fire or police department in case you need to drive there for your safety.
Park in a well-lit area, away from trees and shrubs.
Avoid areas with poor visibility, such as alleys or isolated buildings.
When driving alone, keep doors and windows locked.
Avoid leaving items visible on car seats.
Lock healthcare equipment and personal items in your trunk, keeping only what you need to take with you available.
If you feel uncomfortable in a home or area, STOP. Call for help, call LifeCare, call the police.
Make sure your car is filled with gas and in good working condition.
Park your car on the street, not in the driveway, whenever possible.
Confirm appointments with your patient.
