Clinic Plan: Lockdown / Shelter in Place
In situations where evacuation is unsafe due to external threats, LifeCare will implement our lockdown/shelter in place plan.

In situations where evacuation is unsafe due to external threats—such as severe weather, civil unrest, terrorism, active shooter, or hazardous environmental contaminants—LifeCare will implement a lock-down or shelter-in-place protocol in accordance with OSHA guidelines. Not all steps may apply to every scenario.
Policy
The lockdown plan will be activated by the Governing Body or OPT Administrator when remaining on-site offers the greatest protection.
Note that LifeCare is not designed or equipped for long-term shelter in place by staff, patients, or visitors. Tamarac Elementary School is our designated shelter, and, if feasible, all persons will be safely relocated to it. Tamarac Elementary School is approximately 500 feet from our facility.
Procedure
Immediately call 911.
Secure the facility by locking all doors and windows and closing window blinds.
Assemble essential emergency supplies (nonperishable food, water, first-aid kit, flashlights, batteries, duct tape, plastic bags).
Direct all individuals to the designated safe room (OPT Administrator Office) and restrict exit from the premises.
Unless there is an imminent threat, allow individuals to notify their emergency contacts of their safety and location.
If chemical, biological, or radiological hazards are present, seal vents, windows, and doors.
Continuously monitor all available communication channels for updates and instructions.
